Project Goals
– Control two Lego trains using an Arduino board (Success!)
– Control switches using an Arduino (Nope)
– Track train movement, track occupancy and switch status (Partial success)
– Automatic route scheduling, track planning and train driving (Nope)
– Working train signals, Swedish variant with two lights (Nope)
– Working collision avoidance (Success!)
– If possible within time limits: Allow one train to be driven manually and the other automatically with collision and traffic jam avoidance (Nope!)
Materials Needed
– Lego train sets 60052, 60051 and 7499 (Arrived!)
– Additional Lego track pieces (Arrived)
– Additional Lego pieces to build signals (Arrived)
– Leds, batteries, Arduinos and other electronic stuff (Mostly available)
Progress
Due to time and budget constraints the project was only a partial success. However, in hindsight the scope was overwhelming considering the time I could spare for it.
I’m proud of the result though and I will continue the work in my next train project.
Deadline
The project will be displayed at Framtidsrummet on Hx 29-30 August. So then…
